ACADEMIC HONESTY

Violation of academic honesty might be caused by either wrong practice or sinister approach. Therefore, academic honesty must be explained and outlined with regards to its wrong practices for TED Bursa College High School students.

From the day of its foundation, TED Bursa College aims to raise individuals who are aware of their values, respect for others, responsible individuals and can objectively question things with scientific methods, are able to find new topics to search about when they do research and contribute to overall development of oneself. We, as a school, expect our students to be aware of the notion of academic honesty and show appropriate academic behavior throughout their lifetime.

Since academic honesty is united, both the school and parents have some roles.
For teachers and school administration;
Explaining to students the importance and principles of academic honesty
Teaching students how to make citations and use resources appropriately
Being a role model to students
Providing a secure envıronment where the exam takes place.
Exam questions to be kept safe.
Using Turnitin to find out how to copy and cite references.
Informing the students about the sanctions of violating academic honesty.

For Parents;
Being a role-model.
Knowing the principles of academic honesty applied by the school administration and following practices outside of the school Acting in accordance and accepting school decisions or sanctions in case of a violation of academic honesty.

    For Students;
    TED Bursa College students are expected to act according to the items below:
  • They fulfil their duties without asking another person to do it.
  • They do not use another person’s ideas as if they are their own.
  • They write footnotes and bibliography.
  • They do not copy previous or present assignments.
  • They are careful about making citation when they use a web site.
  • They write URL when they give the data of a research.
  • They look for the latest data while searching assignment topics in order to benefit from the latest information.
  • They do not cheat during exams.
  • They are aware that they may not talk or make nonverbal gestures with their friend/s during an exam.
  • They know that they are not allowed to ask questions to invigilators during an exam.
  • They are aware that they may not go out within the time specified during an exam. They are aware that they are not supposed to bring their notes, calculators, maps or anything that may help them during an exam.
  • They know that their work will be checked via Turnitin program to find out if they violate academic honesty.
  • They know how to act with honesty with all their work to represent both themselves and their school.
  • They do their best to fulfil their responsibility in group work and hand in the assignment on time
